MEC Donation!

Evans Lake receives a huge donation from MEC for our 50th anniversary!

In January, Evans Lake applied for funding from Mountain Equipment Coop to revitalize our hiking equipment. To ease the process of hiking with 30 kids we wanted new backpacks, stoves, water purifiers, and rain gear. It is with great excitement that we can now share that MEC has donated $2500 of product towards this endeavour:

“On behalf of the staff and members on our Community Contributions Review Committee, I am pleased to inform you that Mountain Equipment Co-op would like to provide $ 2,500.00 worth of product (at retail price) towards your project “Evans Lake Forest Education Society’s Hike Equipment Improvement Initiative”. MEC strives to demonstrate leadership in sustainability, and we fulfill this role in part by supporting like-minded organizations such as yours. Out of 173 applications submitted this round we funded a total of 39 projects in our Access and Activity category, for a total of $ 227,992.54.”

MEC has always been a leader in helping small environmental projects, and we’re glad they were able to work with us to help bring a love of natures to the next generation.
