Program Manager
row@evanslake.com T: 604-898-3832 (Camp) Since 2021In post-secondary, I studied early childhood education (ECE) and then paramedicine, but my passion for outdoor education kept pulling me back to the camping world. Before joining Evans Lake, I worked at a number of camps and outdoor centres throughout Ontario in a variety of different positions, ranging from program instructor to camp nurse. But from the moment I heard about Evans Lake I knew it was the place for me. Being able to combine my love of nature and education has me so excited!
My educational background and lifetime of camp experience has helped prepare me for the role of Program Manager, and I am so excited to learn and grow with Evans Lake.

Facilities Manager
derek@evanslake.com T: 604-898-3832 (Camp) Since 2022I am new to the Evans Lake community but was fortunate to enjoy the summer camp experience growing up in Ontario. Speaking with the team at Evans Lake about the facility and its programming really brought those memories back and I am thrilled to be part of the team bringing those memories to others.
Since 2014, I have been working with the District of Squamish as a utility operator maintaining the local water distribution system. Prior to that, I spent many years working in the construction industry. Growing up, I maintained golf and sporting facilities, and for one summer was a maintenance associate at a local summer camp. I hope all these experiences will help me in my new role as the Facilities Manager at Evans Lake. I can only imagine the excitement and energy that fills camp at peak season and am looking forward to being a part of it. Plus, I can’t wait to jump in that lake!”

Director of Operations & Education
conor@evanslake.com T: 604-294-2267 T: 604-898-3832 (Camp) Since 2007Ever since I played a game of Survival as a 9-year old in the Evans Lake forest – a game where each camper represents an animal seeking food & water and avoiding predators – I have been excited to share my enthusiasm for Evans Lake’s programs and get others involved. Having now participated in Evans Lake’s Leadership program, been a Volunteer, Cabin Leader, Instructor, Assistant Director, and now as the Program Director, I have a rich understanding of how to adapt our Forest Education programs to leave campers excited to explore forests!
Before joining Evans Lake as the Program Director I completed a double-major in Sociology & English Literature (UBC), and since then I have entered both the Photography Certificate Program (Langara), and the Advanced Project Management Certificate Program (Langara). Specific forest education initiatives that I am keen to have been a part of at Evans Lake include introducing new modules focused on Climate Change, Forest Tenure, Silviculture, Urban Forestry, Business & Marketing, Mensuration, Forest Ecology and Forest Certification. In 2011, we hosted our first Forest Education Symposium for Teachers (FEST) where we provided teacher-training and forest education modules that can be easily adapted to any classroom and taught in parks, remote forests, or right out the front-door of any school!
My diverse educational background and years of Evans Lake experience have helped me bring a balanced and well-rounded approach to our programs, and the management of our Summer and Winter Camps.
Lauren Marghetti -
Executive Director

Executive Director
lauren@evanslake.com T: 604-294-2267 M: 604-785-4291 Since 2011In grade four, I had the pleasure of coming to Evans Lake for a week long program with my elementary school. I thought it was so magical and loved every second of it. When I turned 14, I returned to Evans Lake as a Camper. I was hooked! For the next 10 years I worked the camp programs, transitioning from work party to counsellor to instructor, first aid attendant and lifeguard. Evans Lake became my summer home and a huge part of who I am today.
After completing my undergraduate degree in Art History, I traveled abroad starting in my birthplace of Argentina. From there I joined Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines working with youth programs. After 5 years of working & travelling at sea, I moved to Whistler, working as the Quality & Brand Assurance Manager for the Hilton Hotel. It was in this role, that I learned the inner workings of the hotel including sales, food & beverage, catering, conference services and guest relations. In 2008, I returned to school and completed the Business Management program at BCIT. More recently, I worked for an event management company in Vancouver, both as an Event Manager, and as the Marketing Coordinator. I managed large corporate groups during the 2010 Olympic Games and handled the marketing initiatives including social media, website management and the creation of the promotional materials.
My education combined with my past work experiences have prepared me to lead the team at Evans Lake, as the Executive Director. I am excited to grow the society, and to expand on the opportunities for children to discover the ‘Magic’ that is Evans Lake.
