Typically, we open summer camp registration in the first week of January. Right now, we feel it is still too early to know whether we will be able to run our overnight or day camp programs for summer 2021. From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in B.C., Evans Lake has remained committed to providing programs to youth as long as it is safe and in line with the recommendations from the BC CDC and our Provincial Health Officer. Since March 2020, the tools to manage COVID-19 and the science to understand it have improved, which have allowed us to implement strong safety plans. But with the introduction of vaccines and kids having returned to schools, the landscape is shifting again, so we would like more time to see how things evolve. As such, we are delaying the opening date for registration at this time. We will update you again in late February on our summer camp programs, as well as the registration date.  For those who deferred or donated their camp fees and are therefore eligible for early registration, you will receive an update on the early registration details in February as well.

Evans Lake is shifting gears this summer to offer a day camp program at our facility near Squamish, BC.

Evans Lake’s summer day camp gets your child outside and learning about forests, fresh water, and local plant and animal species. Interactive games, camper-led discoveries, hikes to nearby mountain lookouts, and much, much more ensure endless opportunities for youth to escape, explore, and experience nature first-hand. Campers hone their outdoor skills while also enjoying some of our classic Evans Lake camp activities, like campfire songs and cannonballs in the lake. While each experience varies according to camper age and interest, the following lists breaks down a sample day of camp:

“A Typical Day at Day Camp”

8:00 – 9:00am   Camper Drop-Off & Daily Health Check
9:00 – 9:30am   Warm-Up

For more details, have a look at our orientation package.

This program is open to youth aged 7-13 and teens aged 14-16. Every week, campers will be divided into groups of 6-7, led by 1 staff member. These smaller cohorts will rotate through each of the activity stations independent from the other cohorts. While we are striving to maintain as much of our regular programming as possible, activities will be modified to meet criteria outlined in relevant COVID-19 guidance documents. It is possible that some activities will not meet new COVID-19 health and safety standards and will therefore be removed from our program options (e.g. we already know we will not be facilitating rock climbing or low ropes).

Day Camp programming runs from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm.
(Drop off after 8 am, pick up by 4:15 pm)

Please drop off your child(ren) at Evans Lake between 8:00 and 9:00 am. On arrival your child will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms, including a temperature check.  Programming will begin at 9:00 am.

Pick-up is between 3:30- 4:15 pm. All campers must be picked up no later than 4:15 pm. Late pick-ups are subject to a late fee of $100 per incident.

Directions to Evans Lake

Due to COVID-19, Evans Lake has worked with our Public Health Officer, Work Safe BC, and various industry associations to create a safe operating plan. We are following the COVID-19 Health and Safety Guidelines put out by the BC Camps Association, as they are our accrediting body.

We have assessed all aspects of our program to ensure we are operating safely. Children will be divided cohorts , allowing for ample physical distancing. We will also be following strict sanitization and cleaning procedures. We are confident that, through all these safety and sanitization measures, we can offer a safe camp experience for your child. In the next few weeks, we will be publishing the Evans Lake’s Restart Plan for family’s to review in greater detail.

Finally, we ask that all campers arriving in British Columbia from other provinces or countries, must self isolate for 14 days prior to attending Evans Lake.

If your chosen session is full, we encourage you to add your name to the waitlist, as spots may open up leading up to camp. To add your child’s name to the waitlist, please use our camp registration software. We will call you if a spot becomes available.

There is the option to add a bagged lunch to your camp experience. You can select a meat bagged lunch, a vegetarian bagged lunch, or a vegan bagged lunch. Due to restrictions, we will not be able to accommodate other special diets or food allergies. The cost for a week of bagged lunches is $60. The bagged lunch includes a main (e.g. sandwich, burrito, pizza pretzel), juice box, granola bar, fruit, and chips.
