Family Weekends

Your Weekend Away in the Forest…

Registration Opens Feb. 05, 2025 at 12 PM

Join us this summer for Family Weekends: a chance for you and your loved ones to experience the best of Evans Lake.

For these weekends, we will be operating camp as a campground/resort facility. This will not be your traditional summer camp offering. Rather, it is a ‘camp-like’ experience, which includes private accommodation in our cabins, meals, activities & some traditional camp programming mixed in.

This is an all-ages weekend. Please note that some activities will not be able to accommodate very small children, as we may not have equipment for their size (i.e. helmet, lifejacket, harness), or the activity is not appropriate for their age. We also do not have cribs or highchairs.

PREPARING FOR YOUR HOLIDAY AT CAMP

We are truly excited to have our families experience a vacation at Evans Lake! This will be a weekend your family will never forget, filled with forest walks, water adventures and an end-of-day unwind by your campfire.

You just have to bring your family, personal belongings and linens, and we will cover everything else. No grocery shopping, meal prepping, activity bookings, dinner reservations or additional costs. This is you, in nature, enjoying the simplicity and comforts of camp with your family, at one all-inclusive price.

ACTIVITIES AT EVANS LAKE

There are plenty of activities to enjoy while you are at camp. This is your weekend—you choose your adventure. We just ask that you show up for scheduled meal times, as meals will not be saved for latecomers.

Canoeing

Venture out on our canoes and explore the entire perimeter of Evans Lake. Have a look up to the top of the rockslide, paddle near the island and check out the shoreline where the river otter hangs out.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Glide along the water while standing atop of our paddleboards. This sport is easy to learn and a very peaceful way to explore the lake. During the afternoon when the water is still, you can see right to the bottom where the crayfish play.

Archery

The archery range is tucked up away from camp, a two-minute walk from cabin 10. Knock your arrow and become the next Robin Hood or Catniss Everdeen.

Arts & Crafts

We encourage guests to look around and use the natural resources around camp to create an authentic masterpiece. We are also exploring some fun options to offer you while onsite – maybe some tie-dye, bracelet making, or a custom lantern.

Guided Nature Walk/Hike

Discover and consider the sights, sounds, smells, textures, and tastes around Evans Lake. Poke, pry, and otherwise explore with all five senses during a nature walk catered for you to feel the forest. There are 10 km of hiking trails in and around Evans Lake, we will choose the best route for the group who is signed up for this activity.

Swimming

Our swim dock features two swimming areas. One area is off the beach and features a confined crib with a burling log. The other section opens onto the lake and is sectioned off with a buoy line. There is NO LIFEGUARD on duty during this weekend. All children must be supervised by an adult. Please ensure that your family maintains physical distancing between yourselves and anyone else at the swim dock.

Rock-climbing

Scramble up to the side of a rock face to the top of Chimney Rock at the water’s edge. This is your chance to test your hand at top-rope climbing on our natural climbing wall, an excellent introduction to new climbers, and perfect for finetuning the skills of experienced climbers.

Campfires

There is one large group campfire area for all campers to use. S’mores Kits can be purchased through the Tuck Shop or you can bring your own. If a campfire ban is in effect, fires will not be permitted. If this is the case, we do have one propane campfire that can be enjoyed at the main campfire pit.  Please bring your own camping chairs for this activity.

Field Games and Sporting Equipment

We have a room full of equipment, including balls, frisbees, horseshoes, bocce, badminton, etc. to name a few. These can be signed out and will be sanitized after each use. Your family is also encouraged to bring your equipment and toys, in case you have a favourite.

SUPERVISION

During this weekend we ask parents/guardians to supervise their children at all times while at Evans Lake. Evans Lake is not providing supervision for children. Parents/guardians are also responsible at ensuring kids are physically distancing, masking up when needed and following the camp rules. During scheduled activities, at least one adult must be present with children.

FOOD SERVICES

Meal service at Evans Lake will begin with dinner on the first night, to lunch on the last day. Meals each day are prepared in house by our Food Services Manager. Our food is delicious, well thought out and nutritiously balanced. In addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner, dessert will be served in the evening. You are welcome to bring your own additional snacks (must be peanut free), or additional snacks are available for purchase from our Tuck Shop.

Dietary Preferences and Restrictions

Generally speaking, our menus and are designed to accommodate most food allergies and dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free. While Evans Lake’s kitchen is nut-aware/gluten-aware, we cannot promise a nut- or gluten-free facility.  Dietary preferences such as Keto, Atkins, Paleo, Whole 30, or similar, etc. will not be accommodated. Please ensure that you list all of your family members dietary restrictions and food allergies during the registration process.
