Squamish, BC — March 31, 2026
At approximately 1:30 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, Evans Lake Forest Education Centre (Evans Lake), experienced a fire that resulted in the loss of two structures on site.
At the time of the incident, the camp was not occupied by guests. All staff are safe.
Emergency response teams, including Squamish Fire & Rescue, Britannia Beach Volunteer Fire Department, the RCMP, and Conservation Officers, attended promptly and worked with camp staff and a community member to contain the situation.
The fire was fully extinguished, and the area is secured. The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
Evans Lake is currently assessing the damage and determining next steps in coordination with our insurance provider. Programs are not cancelled at this time, and we will be reaching out directly to our upcoming groups.
“We are very fortunate for the quick response by our community partners and onsite team,” said Lauren Marghetti, Executive Director.
Evans Lake extends its sincere gratitude to the emergency responders for their swift and professional response.
