The “Rock” – a beautiful polished slab of Tantalus Mountain granite was the brainchild of Matthew Thom former camp manager/program director and Bill Forsyth former custodian and program director. This was established in honour of Dave Campbell the man who guided the development of Evans Lake as camp manager and program director for almost 36 years. !e name was coined by Andy Savory former JFW leader, camp counselor, senior instructor, and camp custodian.
The criteria as to whom would be inducted on the Rock were established by input from Board members and a committee of 5. Inductees are those individuals and/or organizations that have made major contributions to Evans Lake in areas such as financial supporters, program development, leadership, and builders of facilities.
The first members were inducted in 2004 at a special ceremony and work party honouring Dave Campbell who died on Dec.1, 2003.
